Loved this message, Deirdre. It reminds me of a terrific book called "The Happiness Advantage" by Shawn Achor. He synthesizes years of research that proves our success equation is flawed. We think we'll finally be happy if we're successful or if we reach that specific personal goal. Actually, we'll be successful if we get happy. Then he shares seven practices for creating the change in our lives we need to accomplish that attitude adjustment. His approach is so effective that he's in much demand throughout the world in large companies because they want to get a handle on why some companies are so darn...well, happy, and therefore supremely successful. Whether you work in a company or you're just the woman hating Orlando, you can take advantage of Achor's principles. We use one of them at our dinner table with our 9 year-old and you'd be amazed at his turn around.

Perfect! I love that you had the courage to transition from what didn't work for you (and probably make a move that some didn't understand) to find a better solution for a happier life. Bravo! In answer to your question, to be honest the biggest risks and changes I've made have all felt like I didn't have a choice - not because I HAD to do them, but because the opportunities or ideas were presented to me and they felt so RIGHT. I've found that when I really listen to and trust my gut - no matter how scary it might feel - it works out. It's not necessarily easy, but it works out :)

It's so true - sometimes it's easier to believe that others can have a powerful say in our happiness, but the truth is that it's all up to us in the end. Thanks for your comment!
