Deirdre Maloney
President
Deirdre Maloney is an author, speaker and the proud president of Momentum, which helps nonprofit organizations meet their missions through better business. Through informative and entertaining presentations, as well as customized services like strategic planning, board development, executive coaching and marketing strategies, Deirdre helps organizations make and keep their momentum for optimal success.
Deirdre comes by her expertise honestly, having served as the executive of a multi-million dollar nonprofit organization, a board member for multiple organizations, a media specialist, marketing director, technical writer and broadcast news producer. With experience working with organizations like The San Diego Foundation, the Colorado Nonprofit Association, and the Association of Fundraising Professionals, Deirdre brings a unique understanding of the nonprofit sector and the keys to its success.
In addition to her work through Momentum, Deirdre teaches marketing for the University of San Diego’s School of Leadership and Education Sciences. She is a member of the San Diego Rotary and Women Give San Diego. She has served as the Vice President of Community Relations on the board of the Association of Fundraising Professional’s San Diego Chapter and was also the Co-Chair of the American Marketing Association’s 2010 Cause Conference.
Deirdre was recently given the 2011 Bravo! Rising Star Award by the National Association of Women Business Owners. Her writings and articles have appeared in a number of print publications, including the San Diego Business Journal and the San Diego Union Tribune. Efrem Bycer 
Vice President
Efrem Bycer is excited to serve as the Vice President of Momentum. Capitalizing on what he calls his “preneurial” spirit, he helps organizations and individuals identify the needs of the market, develop solutions and measure performance through presentations, coaching and other customized services.
Efrem possesses a unique combination of expertise, including board development, strategic planning and social media marketing. His nonprofit experience includes working with a variety of nonprofits, from small start-ups to century-old legacy institutions. He has also worked extensively with local governments in Syracuse, New Orleans, New York and San Diego. Efrem’s background gives him a comprehensive understanding of the nonprofit sector and how to be successful at all stages of organizational development.
Beyond working with Momentum, Efrem serves on the Head Start Policy Council at Neighborhood House Association and on the board of the San Diego chapter of Young Nonprofit Professionals Network (YNPN). He is a member of Leaders 2020 and the current board chairman of the Congo Leadership Initiative.
Efrem was selected as a Janice O’Connor Memorial Scholar by BoardSource and as a Fellow with the New Leaders Council. He was named a “30 under 30″ to follow on Twitter and his writing is featured in such publications as The Journal of Planning Theory and Practice.
